Maybe if the dev community came up with an alternative web store implementation that allowed Mv2 extensions
This would be great. It’s basically what eclipse did with the visual studio marketplace. They made open-vsx.org so you can legally install extensions on non-microsoft builds of vscode (vscodium, code-oss, etc). The only issue is getting extension developers to publish to it.
AFAIK, The way you’re describing installing extensions is basically the current way to install extensions using ungoogled-chromium.
