    Well, students in schools have been massively underperforming in the last few years. Why should we continue to throw money at the problem?

      Perhaps they’ve under performing due to successful previous efforts by Republicans to cut education funding?

      This is the playbook:

      1. Cut funding on X

      2. Point out problems in X (but don’t mention they are caused or exacerbated by funding cuts)

      3. Propose more funding cuts so as not to waste money on poorly performing X
