TBF, HTTYD originally starts off with the vikings murderously scared of dragons because they kill people. Hiccup is the first one to not be scared of a dragon and everyone thinks he’s crazy for it at first. Everyone thinks of Toothless, but up until his appearance in the movie we have only seen dragons portrayed as fearsome.
