She said that the pattern was awful and that she had fudge all kinds of stuff to make it work. The hat needed to be completely redesigned.

    Well the problems certainly aren’t visible in the finished piece, she’s done a great job of it! Love the colours too, I’m not much of a pastels person usually but it works so well here.

    I feel like for whatever reason, crochet patterns tend to have way more issues than knitting patterns. Wonder if it’s something to do with the relatively lax rules in crochet, like we maybe all interpret things differently whereas with knitting there’s basically one way to carry out an instruction and that’s it.

    Don’t mind me, just thinking out loud lol.

      I’ve done this pattern before. From what I remember attaching the four legs is fiddly as hell and the instructions aren’t the clearest. After frogging and remaking a few times I decided to fudge it like OPs wife. Turned out fine!
