I received the cat toys I ordered on Temu yesterday, and they seem to be a hit. I got one of those rings with trapped balls that roll around, and it is very light so moves around when she hits at the balls. I think that adds to the fun, and she seems quite convinced that there is a secret entrance to get at the balls from the inside as she keeps reaching in there to try and get them. The other toy is a small ball that vibrates periodically - I think its supposed to roll around by itself, but it just wobbles in place. That seems to be interesting enough for Miss Meow, and I think she believes it is an escaped ball from the ring toy as she has been playing with them together. I’m not sure how long it has before it is permanently lost under some furniture somewhere.

It does make me a bit sad I didn’t realise her initial lack of interest in toys was because of the problems with her teeth. At least I can make it up to her a bit now. I might look into some other toys seeing as how well received these were.

From general pain and infection, which in Miss Meow’s case was from badly infected teeth. When I got her she had problems with her mouth & skin infections, and I thought that after a couple of rounds of antibiotics and having four teeth removed that had been resolved, but it turns out the infection in the teeth was still there, and progressed over the course of a year to the point where she had to have all her teeth removed (it turns out she is FIV positive, which is why she was so succeptible to the infection). Not having a baseline for “normal” behaviour for her I thought her lack of interest in toys was just her personality, but she is much more active and playful now.
