I know that the West is trying to pressure China to side with Israel and that that government has decided to not get involved but what about the people in the country? Didn’t China use to support the end of the apartheid there and stuff like that?

I don’t know about the media, but the official communication from the government is basically “End hostilities to avoid civilian casualties and make every effort to establish an independent Palestinian state as soon as possible.”
Not a super radical thing to say, but notable is that they did not condemn Hamas, and they explicitly call for Palestinian sovereignty as the only path to lasting peace. Israeli and western media are responding to that about as well as you’d expect (crying and shidding).
At least in germany a two-state solution is what the vast majority advocates for.
Of course at the same time hamas killing civilians is highly criticized.
And germany did kill more than 6 million Jews 70 years ago which lead to the forming of Israel in the first place. So while everyone wants a two state solution, no one will say Israel what do to for obvious reasons.
