Worse yet, you could hit the deer and miss the brain, just injuring it. A safe shot is as depicted, hitting the heart and/or both lungs.

Why not aim for the head? Is it too hard to hit?
Generally, yes. A deer’s head is much more likely to move than its torso, so its more likely you’ll miss. Worse yet, you could hit the deer and miss the brain, just injuring it.
