The violent incident saw seven guards fired, six resign, and the state said they used “excessive force.”
…
These were the first details released publicly regarding Grant’s condition. It was also the first time he was publicly identified as the inmate victim in the [September 5th] assault that resulted in the termination or resignation of 13 prison officials.
So he was on trial for aggravated robbery when he was 19. During the trial, he attacked a witness in front of the jury. Then he got more time when he attacked a prison guard. And now he tried to stab another prison guard, who then beat him so badly he might die. Grant had also been in solitary confinement for several years.
Everything about this is fucked up.
Turns out we actually have mechanisms to adjudicate punishment for crimes, it’s called incarceration.
You know what is outside of that? Extrajudicial punishment by GED holding morons who are too stupid to even become a local sheriff’s deputy in Texas.
Yeah, we put people in prison. And when they attack people in prison, we put them in solitary confinement, basically prison-prison. Then when they attack people from there, I’m not surprised when it ends in serious injury.
Reading the article, it sounds like this all started when he joined a gang. Another victim of a failure of society.
hmmm, i wonder why he might have gone crazy?
People don’t go crazy after being
in solitary confinementtortured for years. What are you going on about?Did you read what he did before he got there?
