Even when workers are well-informed about what they deserve from employers, they don’t have the power to do much more than resign and look for another job. What gives AB 800 teeth is that it specifically requires K-12 students to be educated, “on their right to join or organize a union at their workplace.”

    Shit, I remember learning about unions getting into full-on skirmishes with government agents/the military/PMCs (such as the Pinkertons). The way it was presented was that they were the heroes of the story. Unfortunately, it was also presented as the unions of the past had won everything there was to win, and we were fortunate for their sacrifice. That couldn’t be further from the truth, we have so much more to gain.
