So shout out to people behind the Lemmy bots. Obviously, the goal of these posts is to make people feel more comfortable with the content switch. Great for lurkers. However I am seeing some community bots for stuff that feels like it’s supposed to be a discussion post but with no OP to discuss. The main candidate being something like https://lemmit.online/c/aitah
The problem is that now we have a community that is, for lack of a better word, spammed with bot posts, and where actuall posts will get lost in the feed. If we could contain these to a bot only community or instance, it would enable those who want to hide them, to easily do so
lemmit.online is basically what you’re suggesting, a self-contained bot spam instance.
Luckily it’s all run through one bot so you can just block https://lemm.ee/u/bot@lemmit.online and you won’t see any more of it.
Blocking doesn’t work for me and I don’t know how to fix it.
In my blocked section of my profile settings it says
type ‘Null’ is not a subtype of type int in type cast
Hmm, that’s a new one on me. Are you by any chance using a mobile app? I’m wondering if it’s maybe an app-specific thing and you could use the mobile site as a workaround.
Aren’t bot usually flagged as such?
Yes, there’s a B after the name in the web interface.
aa
Believe it or not, straight to jail.

Boots should be flagged in their name and it’s all or nothing but you should have a “Show Bot Accounts” option in your settings.
