Hello, I’m looking for any custom keyboard/pcb that requires the components to be soldered directly to it, and uses a atmega32u4. I happen to have a promicro board that I ripped the USB connector and traces from it, so with this new spare chip I was looking to try building something :)

I know most PCBs that can be bought will come with the components already soldered, but I’m open to protects where the pcb needs to be send to be manufactured.

You could design your own PCB or get one of the many open sources PCBs made for you. It probably doesn’t make the most financial sense though.

If you don’t find something that works for you, you could always try doing a hand wired board. They’re pretty fun and easy to do.

How do you intend to connect the pro micro to the computer? I’m just curious.

(I got started on my first handwiring project recently and promptly overwrote my pro micro bootloader, making the usb unfunctioning. Guides say I can rewrite it by hooking it up to another Arduino through the I/O ports).

I actually have a PCB design that’s exactly what you’re asking about. Its a basic board with no rgb headers or other features but I designed it because I wanted a full size with numpad (kinda hard to come by) you can order the board from a pcb manufacturer with all the parts (it includes the BoM) or you can just get the board if youd like. Let me know if you’re interested
