Newly released data from the FBI shows hate crimes in 2022 reached an all-time high since the agency began tracking such incidents, up nearly 7% from 2021.

Experts who spoke with the BBC say a host of factors, including aggressive political rhetoric and social media, have contributed to this uptick in violence - and they worry a heated upcoming presidential campaign season and violence in the Middle East could worsen the trend.

I’ll never understand why killing someone because you HATE them is somehow worse than killing people out of cold, calculating GREED.

At least people that kill out of hate cared about their victims, in that they wanted them dead.

A profiteer that poisons your children to make an extra buck doesn’t even care to know a single aspect about them, a nameless speedbump to glorious profit. I find that far more disturbing than “I’m blue and you’re purple, I’ll fucking kill you!” That’s just being an ignoramus who is a slave to their old vestigil evolutionary “something unfamiliar, kill it!” programming.

The capitalists have invented an entire dialect (externalities, rational-self interest, curtailing redundancies, etc) to convince themselves their murderous havoc is the height of benevolent reason, and more than that, an economic necessity and their duty to private shareholders.

We condemn direct violence more than indirect. Think first degree murder vs negligent homicide.

If you add enough indirections, we apparently no longer care.
