Imagine being an explorer, cracking open a 10,000-year-old tomb, uncovering a priceless ancient artifact – and getting rickrolled. Our deep descendants might just get the pleasure, thanks to a Global Music Vault due to be built in Norway, featuring Microsoft’s Project Silica, a tough new data…
I’d be more worried about a technological decline to the point where we simply won’t have an idea on how to make use of all that knowledge. Imagine someone from a couple hundred years ago stumbling on such a vault of data storage. What would they think of it? How would they make sense of it? Let alone access & read it, even if the tech was still somehow working? Long data storage is important, but even more so is the ability for future humans to actually read and make use of it.
