So my sister bought a Google Home pod for her use in her bedroom, but it picks up my voice whenever I ask Google Assistant on my phone to play my podcast.

I’ve discussed this with her, and she won’t budge from not using the Home pod as she will consider it a waste of her purchase. I use the google assistant on my phone when I am busy and can not use the phone without breaking my rhythm.

So, as a workaround, I’m looking to change the Google assistant trigger on my phone to my sister’s name, or at the very least, to another trigger that will only trigger the google assistant on my phone, and not her Home pod.

Any guidance?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think there is a way to do this.

But iirc google assistant should only activate on a single device, even if multiple devices in the vicinity are triggered by the wake word. Maybe double check whether all the devices here on the same wifi network?

That could be a solution, I may have to add my phone to her Google Home (where the Home pod is connected to) so that my phone’s ga won’t activate. Though not sure if I’ll still be able to resume media on my phone through the home pod.

I don’t know what it lets you do, but there’s a setting on there to let you differentiate by voice, this is so that you can’t ask it for a copy of today’s calendar to find out your sisters details for example. I wonder if this may have more options or to limit users or something.

Sadly no, it’s only to protect others personal details, it doesn’t prevent the trigger from triggering both my phone and the Home pod at the same time.
