I just hope ‘prompt’ artists never forget the tools they’re using were built on a corpus of actual artists that were not allowed to opt-out or even compensated to build these tools. That really, really bothers me.

This wave of AI singlehandedly radicalized me on data privacy, and even lead me to Lemmy. I used to not give even a little bit of a fuck, but now that my 10+ years of creative writing and online visual art portfolio are being used against my will as training data, I’ve gone full tinfoil hat. To think that my unique personality, experiences, style, and ideas are now able to be exploited and used by any lazy idiot to make money makes me rage. I switched majors from graphic design to CS because I need more people who think like an artist in charge of this stuff, and I plan on being one of those people. (Or at least a consultant, I mean you gotta dream big though)
