    Not trying to fight you. Apologies if my frustration is showing.

    I don’t see this as being “the lesser of evils.” Yes, all of the apparent options are evil, but they are not evil in a “grit your teeth and hope the next election sorts it out” way. They are evil in a “fascists are every day gaining more control over the lone superpower” way. None of the apparent options are viable.

    Everyone - not just in the US, but in the world - is going to lose a lot of freedom. A lot of people are going to be overtly sidelined and disallowed to participate in society. Many people will be imprisoned. Some people will be executed. Much of these will happen directly, at the hands of national governments, including the United States, and much of these will happen indirectly, at the hands of paramilitary groups, with impunity, with a wink and a nod from national governments.

    It’ll happen sooner than anyone is willing to think.

    So, yeah, “may as well get the least-worst one” kind of rankles me. Ten years ago, I would agree. Not today. It’s too late for that. It’s too late for anything.
