    Oof. My mom got cancer 3 times over the course of something like 15 years. She always hid it and I had to find out in roundabout ways.

    Second time was a different from the first one, but the third one was metastasis. She lived two years after the last diagnostics, which I only found about after her death.

    I lived in a different continent and felt robbed of the opportunity to be closer to her because of her secrecy. I guess she didn’t want me jeopardize my career to be with her. I could have dealt with a higher level of risk, mom.

      I’m so sorry for your loss friend. I can absolutely understand. My wife and I didn’t talk much about end-of-life care or what to do when she’s gone, I think largely because she knew how hard it was for me and she wanted to avoid causing me more pain. So we lived a lot in the moment, but I wish I had been stronger.
