Kinda tough for midfielders like Rice to get recognision in such awards, even defenders can be flashy in their own way and make highlights(see VVD or Saliba) but an all around midfielder who just holds everything together without being a particularly aggressive defender or a flashy playmaker, will find it harder to get noticed, at least when it comes to individual awards, not mention that its harder to stat pad

Nice to see Douglas Luiz get a nomination, he’s been brilliant for Villa for basically all of 2023 and he’s playing in a position that doesn’t really get recognition in highlight reel driven awards. Salah will win of course.
