I forgot the cat’s bed has an IP Address. It runs Tasmota.

I’m going to turn into an old cat lady. What’s the man equivalent?

Anyway. I’m serious! I’m going to automate it. It’s only 11W and it only runs 25% of the time while on…but. I have discovered if I put a Zigbee push switch under it and let the cat use it, I can see the patches of “events” on the push button when the mat is in use.

I thought of a gimmick thing that allows her to turn it on and off, but… it’s cat, not a crow.

The logic is simple. Button event/* = cat bed heater on for 10 minutes.

10 minutes expires and no events, cat bed heater off.

I think “too far” is a matter of how you feel about your cat.

We had an outside cat and my wife bought a heater for the cat bed. I put on a Z-Wave on/off module that turned on when it was below a certain temp. We didn’t bother to worry if the cat was actually in the bed.

At 11W 25% of the time, it’s like 2.75W all the time. I wish half the other gadgets I’ve got plugged in were that frugal.
