Why YSK: So you can turn off location tracking in Google
Go to the My Activity settings in your Google account and turn off “Location History”. The Google and Google Maps apps record your location history by default.

While this is true, turning off location history does have its disadvantages. It’s sometimes useful to have your location history to refer to.

The tradeoff of course is giving a big corp your location data.
