You have one new message and four saved messages. Message one: “Hi. I’m just getting used to the new system. I was in it all last week, but now my password isn’t working. I tried all my old passwords and all the ones on the naughty sticky-note on my laptop and none of them worked. Please call me back and give me my password.”

    • Password manager is a Post-It note.
    • Every system we use lets you reset your own password.
    • She didn’t say what system she was talking about.
    • At the time, we had no systems about a week old.
    • We don’t have access to user’s passwords.
    • She didn’t provide a callback number.
    • She didn’t leave her name.

I did a great pebkac. I got a new fridge so I used my IR heat gun to test temps. It was high, way to high. Got service guy out under warranty. I showed him the issue. Deadpanned he takes the IR heat gun out of my hands, moves it closer to the fridge and says “you’re too far away. It’s pickup up the air temp from outside the fridge.”. Sure enough it read perfect temps when it was closer.

Thankfully the door alarm speaker was faulty so it wasn’t a completely wasted trip.

I literally (back in the day ) would field calls to our support line
“The message says press any key to continue, and this keyboard doesn’t have an ‘any’ key”
