I actually wonder what the polling on this is. Like do rank and file conservatives actually hate environmental protection so much that this is popular?

Or is it just that cutting the budget broadly is super popular with them but cutting any service in particular is super unpopular so this is the least-bad option for cutting the budget?

Koch family spent millions (billion?) buying out most republican politicians specifically because that was cheaper than not polluting.

The core argument is “epa is anti business” and they’ve convinced the moronic voters that pollution/climate change doesn’t really affect them. And the regulations are just about paperwork

(Pollution does, of course, but the charges are for not maintaining records or self reporting- because it’s impossible to prove that they’re polluting when nobody is actually measuring that- they ripped out the meters-)

Yeah the epa is anti business though. That’s why I’m anti business. Fuckers poisoned the air, dirt, water, and our fucking bodies. It doesn’t have to be anti business though, but businesses choose to make it so

are they anti-business? or are they Pro-American?

protecting Americans is not anti-business. polluting the environment around you- including neighborhoods with kids- is anti-American and they should get wrecked.

It’s popular to business why is why it keeps happening and gets bipartisan support on occasion as well.

I mean nixon put it together, if that asshole can do the math in like 1969/70 it shouldn’t be hard to do today.

Actually, yes. American conservatives equate caring for the environment with homosexuality and godlessness.

I was born and raised in the south and was brainwashed as a southern baptist. Conservatives hate conservation, unless it’s saving some kills for next hunting season.

Conservatives will pollute just for the sake of polluting. They delight in “rolling coal”, burning trash and pouring motor oil on anything green. They see polluting as an insult to non-conservatives. Conservatives are as grotesque as you imagine them to be.

It’s popular because the EPA is pretty shit at enforcing rules against large companies, so they mostly bully small and medium size businesses. There’s also a sentiment that recent regulation is more about control than saving the environment.

US “Conservatives” propose slashing $4B from conservation budget, because, to them, words are meaningless and children’s futures don’t matter.

We could save about $10 Billion by scuttling the TSA (the Theatrical Security Asshats).

The TSA serves no purpose other than to shift money around and spend billions on private equipment contracts with cronie corporations. It is theft of public funds to benefit conservative legislators. And this scam costs us almost $10B/year.

So TSA Blue shirts that you see are GS-4 and GS-6 employees (very low pay) that act as security theater. It’s to give the public the idea of security, but they do nothing but make things difficult on purpose to make it seem real. The one person on the floor doing anything is the person monitoring the x-ray machine, and they are in contact with those behind the scenes if they catch anything.

Behind the scenes you have the real TSA. There, you have your GS-11 - GS-14 employees trained in criminal and anti-terrorism. They have monitors that test the air and water for chemicals, they have experts monitoring facial recognition and infrared software scanning every single person who walks into the airport to check the criminal databases with and to check for people above the normal temperature which indicates nervouness. They monitor every door and who is accessing it. They have K-9 units that walk the airport as well.
