Excellent movie. Thoughtful, respectful, insightful, and occasionally funny.
A Jarmusch classic, equally worth watching for his directing and the score composed by RZA. And Forest Whitaker is great of course.
Remember the ice-cream guy who only speaks French? And there’s this theme about how they don’t speak each other’s language but still kind of understand each other?
The interesting thing is: in the youtube video, the subtitles are all in Arabic, so if you don’t speak French or read Arabic then you won’t understand him. And yet it kind of makes sense. Man, if I were still in college I bet I could write a killer paper that had phrases like “recontextualization of interpretation” in it, lel.

I was just thinking abut this movie Mayne a week ago. Then today I find this sub on all, start scrolling through, and here it is. Guess that’s a sign it’s time for another watch.
