Hi guys,

I have a fairly new electric garage roller door which has a RD20X2ELL Controller unit. This unit has the following wires inside:

Terminal 1 – Earth Motor WireTerminal 2 – Earth Power WireTerminal 3 – Power Brown Live WireTerminal 4 – Power Blue Neutral WireTerminal 5 – Motor Open WireTerminal 6 – Motor Blue Neutral WireTerminal 7 – Motor Close wire

I was looking for a unit to essentially make the door controllable via wifi and came across the Meross MSG100 although there are only two wires that come from the Meross unit so I’m assuming it wouldn’t work on it’s own (I’d need open/close/com I’m guessing?).

Here is a pic of my controller box:

If this isn’t possible with the Meross, does anybody know the best way to make this “smart” at all? Preferably so I can integrate it with Google Home.

Thanks in advance!

The Meross is just a relay with wifi, so you would have to figure out whether you can close/open the door through one of the terminals. The terminals on the left are the high-voltage side, so I would not touch those.

You could try putting a jumper between terminals 19 and 20 which is the push-button connection. If the door opens or closes then you just attach the two wires from the Meross device to those terminals. If that does not work, you may need an attachment to the Meross unit or something else entirely.

Here is the wiring diagram for that opener - https://irp.cdn-website.com/cff40d41/files/uploaded/RD20X2TELL.pdf You should be safe connecting terminals 19 and 20 since those are low-voltage connections, but if you are unsure maybe talk to someone who knows more about those specific garage door openers.

The Meross doesn’t connect to your existing garage door opener at all. There are no wire between the two units.

The Meross just pretends to be the remote control. It receives commands via WiFi then pretends like it is the remote control pressing the button.

So it will only work with your opener if it know the wireless standard used by it. Check out their compatibility list.

If you opener has a remote release contact on the PCB, you could do the same as the Meross with a smart relay and a door sensor.

The Merross customer service is great. Flick them an email with a photo and they’ll run you through it
