Close, the back wheels are welded straight. And Uhh… Hmm. I never thought about that haha. They would be better if they all rotated.

Bah, how did I get that wrong… It’s been so long since I rode a US kart like Superman laying on my belly. US karts are better for that, EU karts tend to drift to the side.

It’s kind of better when they all rotate, it certainly allows you to move sideways. Like when you stop and see something on a shelf, and want to move out of the way and closer to it to just drop it in. A US kart requires a 3 point turn.

However, at the same time US karts generally turn with less effort. Personally, I defeat the EU karts by spinning them around like a madman and drift-turning around corners. Sometimes I just give it a little flick and let it spin 360 or 720, just for fun, stopping it before it bashes into the side of an aisle.

I usually just lift the back of the cart to move them over, not as easy as just moving it sideways but not too difficult, unless your cart is too heavy or you have a child in the seat.

That reminds me of my technique for those travellators that go up and down between floors. The wheels normally lock into the base if they’re pointing forewards, but if you zig zag and lift it slightly you can keep it from getting latched, such that you actually progress up instead of standing there waiting.
