      It probably depends greatly on how much you use the video calling feature, I can see that being one of the most expensive components

        Hardly at all. But aren’t those P2P anyways I thought relayed calls are opt in to hide your IP?! But I’m not well informed.

        The thing is the default 5€/month seems a bit much. But if say 12€/year wouldn’t cover the cost I create I would want to know. I would love this to be very transparent.

        Ah well I just thought about it: Wikipedia says the active userbase currently is 40.000.000. They say they need $50 mil/year that equals $1,2/user/year so around ten cents per month. So if I pay 1€/month (1,09$) I would cover the cost for me and close to 10 other users?! Is that right? My arithmetic is often wrong.

    $14 million in infrastructure cost for 2023 is incredibly cheap considering. This is san human cost and other ancillary consideration.

    That sum is certainly achievable with small donations. If NPR can run on nags and some large, then I’m sure Signal can as well.
