Hi.
I work full-time fully remote, and I am not the greatest socially.
I have the brainstorm that some sort of monastery like location, where I have a separate room, but where there are shared meals, and some sort of unforced spiritual presence, would be good for me. The meals and spiritual presence make it more difficult to isolate as I often do.
I am U.S. based, and for various reasons probably should stick in the U.S. for now.
Any ideas? Even if it’s not a spiritual place per se, but somewhere you found these things.qxHostels in concept do this. But most are more crass in reality. Still, maybe you know of one where the dream is real.
If it’s a special place you don’t want to share with everyone, you are most welcome to DM me.
Oh, uh, also, I don’t like the cold. Just to make the search more difficult :)
No idea. Sedona?
Um, there are many places like this in the USA. For example, look for Monastery of Christ in the Desert in Abiquiu, New Mexico. There are many zen mediation centers that offer retreats in the Bay Area. (Google San Francisco Zen Center/ Green Gulch). There are many Catholic monasteries in the USA that offer private retreats where you are not forced to attend mass or anything like that. Just google monastery retreats USA and you will get lots of info.
So no, it’s not an oxymoron.
Unforced spiritual presence in the US? Lol nope
Forced? 100%
Crestone, CO
New Skete is an Eastern Orthodox mononstary in upstate New York that offers spiritual retreats. They also train dogs!
There is a similar Buddhist retreat in the Catskills affiliated with the late Thich Nhat An
