A wet bulb heat dome is absolutely going to kill thousands of people in the US soon after similar events kill thousands in the Global South. It’s going to happen. Will it be Texas, where they just passed a law to undermine health restrictions on working conditions during life threatening heat? My bet is on somewhere East of Texas, maybe Alabama. It needs to be the right combination of humidity and heat to exceed humanity’s wet bulb tolerance, and we’re getting close.
