I’m not using my US number at the moment, but I don’t want to lose it. I don’t want to continue paying Verizon $80/month for no reason. What’s the cheapest way to keep my US number? I will only need it from time to time to login to certain apps/websites that verify via text message. I am able to connect to WiFi, but obviously the number needs to remain active in order to receive the text message.

You can pay $20 once ever and have it turned into a Google Voice number that you can use over any wifi connection. You can even get calls directly to your phone so long as you have data. Can also take calls on your computer

Look into Google Voice: I think it’s a one-time fee of like $20 to transfer and keep the number.

I like Google Fi @ ~$22 a month. All calls can be made over wifi, but international rates for a regular call are pennies.

Had them for years and get reception where most people don’t.

+1 for US Mobile, thank god I found them, fuck verizon, went from $65/month to $8. I’m not sure exactly how it works, but even in Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan I get my 2FA texts from my US number.
