I think there’s living and there’s living. I’m from London originally but live in France now. I had a hankering for living in a big city again last summer but I knew that London is very, very expensive these days. I’d love to try New York as that seems like an incredible city but again I know it’s too expensive. I went to Mexico City and it was amazing. And cheap.

Ofc you can not live on Times Square on 2100usd. But it is more than the majority of people in the world live on.

True, but many people DN at least in part for the higher quality of life they can afford in lower COL countries. More bang for the buck. As another commenter said, there’s living, and then there’s living.

You can live in prob 99% of the world on 2100, and exist on that amount on most of the rest of that 1%

There are people in every major city living on less. Never said you would live a jetset life. But you Will not die from hunger.

Rent for a one bedroom apartment in most major US cities is over $2,100/mo. In many cities it is over $3,000.

Africa is often forgotten about on this thread, but it’s the most expensive to get around in. Transportation between countries isn’t as smooth or easy as Europe or LATAM and the cost of flights will add up fast.

only in the big cities you can pay between 1500 euros and 2500 euros a month for AIRBNB. if you go outside of the big cities you can find decent spots. Recently saw 500 euros / month for a studio near Valencia Spain, it was 200 meters from the beach too… (not in the city, some 50km from it, but there was train/bus access).

its winter and prices are lower. in summer you can find these things for 700

2100 USD is not enough to stay in hotels or AirBnB. So he stays in hostels which is maximum 20 euro/day in Western Europe. On remaining 1500 euro he will do just fine.
