I’m looking at this relay to smart enable some manually operated switches. I thought about just replacing the switches but my wife is resistant to any change.

The ZBMINI-L2 claims that it can fit inside the standard junction box, (here in the US it’s the 120 type) along with the switch. I opened up a few boxes and between the switch and wires, there is hardly any free space.

So am I understanding this correctly? Do they really expect you to pack everything into the junction box?

I use these, love them, and found they do fit. It’s tight and you’ve got to arrange the wires efficiently, but it works. Do not force them or you could get them to fail.

I use them for the same reason you mentioned. She actually likes them now because… They’re paired with a Smartthings hub which is recognized by a couple of Google home devices and Google Assistant on our Android smartphones. So she can control them by talking.

In addition to light control, the Google Home speakers have worked out great. Now she doesn’t just have me to talk to at home!
