Undoubtedly, since slavery is still allowed in the constitution.
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
And both parties in America’s government have representatives who profit off carceral slavery via holding stock in private prisons. Lost the paperwork that named and shamed them; but I’m pretty sure it was high-profile, water-cooler-and-dining-room-table names on that list.
