It is very similar to the original, with some small changes to game mechanics. If someone had played the original they would be able to learn this version quickly.

I’ve only played South Sea several times and not the original yet.

Compared to playing the Hunters & Gatherers version, I prefer South Seas for the simplicity of choices (and calm theme).
