So I’m going to throw this out here, saw an article positing that the Falcons can’t do better than Ridder at this point in the season (correct) and we’re stuck with him. It then listed Matt Ryan as one of the top FA QBs available.

I know it isn’t happening. I don’t necessarily even think it would be good because he’s a statue now. And for some ungodly reason I cannot explain, I still find myself believing in Ridder’s upside. But for the sake of conversation, how would everyone feel as fans if he made a Cam Newton-esque return?

Matt Ryan had an average arm and made a great career out of being the smartest guy on the field and being able to process a defense quickly and get the ball out. Due to age, he can’t overcome the worn, aged arm anymore, so he needs to stay in the booth.

Ridder needs to finish this season regardless of whether he’s our long term starter. If we have to trade a lot of draft capital to trade up, or we have to sign a FA QB, we’ll continue to be a mediocre team. We need to draft a QB and O-line, and hopefully we can continue to add pieces on defense. FWIW, I’d love to have a QB like Jalen Milroe assuming he continues to develop well; he’s got great size and throws a nice deep ball. I can’t listen to another year of people complaining about Ridder or , though.

He’s in the casting booth, he’s retired. Never should’ve courted Watson and lost Matty Ice though.

Ryan will only ever come back to the Falcons for 3 things:

    1. One day contract to retire.
    2. As a coach
    3. As Freddie Falcon.

    Omg stop with these posts.

Matt Ryan is not coming as a backup to mentor, a starter to save us, or a position coach.

We will be drafting a new QB in the draft

There is one elite former player I can think of that works as a position coach and that’s Reggie Wayne. It’s not something you see often and pretty much never with QBs.

Our owner already blew the chance of having Matt Ryan around to teach Ridder

Matt Ryan was done when he last played for us and then Indy. He was once great but old man time always wins. He’s a statue in the pocket, if someone lays a finger on him he goes down and he just didn’t have it anymore at the end. With that said, I’ll always be grateful for Ryan’s tenure with the Falcons.

matt is still getting paid by the colts. if he retired he wouldn’t get that money. that is the only reason he’s not officially retired
