I remember having to take a nap before the game so my mom would let me stay up to watch it and I slept through most of the first half. I feel back asleep before the end.
That was a super big deal regular season game. It was utterly hyped up.
Hell I grew up playing football (1995-2011) and I don’t even recognize the game being played today.
For the casual fan I understand the appeal but for me it’s just…hardly the same sport.
I felt like I was on acid watching that I didn’t know there were no plays lol
I love acid
The Juice on the commentary
I know right.
It’s so bizarre seeing defense being allowed against pass plays. Nowadays, if the receiver and cornerback jerseys cause molecular friction in-play, it’s a personal foul and pass interference call.
They had a mercifully brief rule change where fan noise created a five-yard penalty and a loss of timeout in 1989. I remember the 49ers complaining about the Kingdome noise in the preseason and Seattle losing all three timeouts for the half as a result.
I think it was a Rams-Giants game the season prior which necessitated that noise penalty, specifically adding to Jim Everett’s reputation of being ‘soft.’

Yeah it’s so weird how they actually run plays nowadays
