Newcastle shat the bed last night. Last half hour it was attack and defense, thought they were the marginally better team before that.
Did they run out of gas or was the strategy just kick long to isak? Not the worst strategy 1-0 up in an away match but it was not working - they really just needed some possession. They were comfortable with the ball before that.
Might be tiredness since they couldn’t rotate against Chelsea on Saturday.
They were getting peppered though and the goal came from a Donnarumma mess, aside from that they had the Isak chance and not much else so I think the fact they kept the lead until the end was fortunate, PSG’s finishing was clownish.
I don’t think how they played in the 2nd half would have been their strategy, there’s good defensive performances and then there’s that where they had no control at all and were giving up big chances all the time, I think it’s a consequence of running out of gas and Beheadie won’t be happy with it.
Perhaps tiredness. Their bench was all teenagers.
It was fortunate yeah, barcola missed some sitters but before that final flurry, psg didnt have many good chances either.
Miley just couldn’t play the final ball, while livramento and almiron were terrorising psg. In the end psg should’ve won it but they scraped a point with a contentious penalty in the end.
I don’t think Newcastle intended to deep block it for that long too, no team does, but sometimes sitting deep and countering is the play. They gave up keeping isak up front by the end.
