I’ve been on the road for +2 years and I’m starting to wonder if I should insure my big ticket items (computer, camera, expensive jewelry, etc).
I know some home and rental insurance policies in the US cover these items, but as a full-time traveler, I’m not sure I qualify for these plans.
Is there a certain insurance product that covers these items? I know tracker insurance covers these items during transit, but I’m looking for something to insure these items full-time.
Thanks for all the help!

"What if I’m not at home?
Personal property doesn’t have to be in your home to be protected by your policy. Your coverage travels with you — whether you’re enjoying the vacation of your dreams or running weekly errands."
You are correct that travel insurance is basically pointless. The default limits I have seen in plans are $500 per item, $1500 total. Or you can pay a bunch to double these. But that clearly won’t cover full value of camera or laptop.
I have the State farm plan. You send them SN and receipts for all the items and the plan cost is based on their value. Mine for $8k of stuff is $200 per year.
Never made a claim to know how difficult it would be to get them to actually pay.
This. I maintain renter’s insurance because of my storage unit back in the states and my policy has a similar clause.
Insuring high-value items while traveling is important, especially for long-term travelers. One option to consider is a travel insurance policy that includes coverage for personal belongings. These policies are designed for travelers and can cover items like computers, cameras, and jewelry. Another option is specialized gadget insurance, which specifically covers electronic devices. It’s key to read the fine print to understand the coverage limits and conditions. Also, for saving on travel expenses like hotel bookings, I’ve used Rebookify in the past, which might be helpful for you too

Safetywing.com recently announced they will be offering coverage options for this and some other things like “extreme” sports.
Thanks! I’ve heard mixed reviews of safetywing, but I’ll take a look.
I’ve used them since 2020 and never had any issues, but I’ve also never needed to file a claim … so.
Some people also like to complain about Airbnb, which I’ve used for several years with nothing but good experiences.
