The first time you see a volatile in Dying Light 1.
Prior to that I had little notion of what volatiles are, just how they look.
I didn’t expect them so early on, and literally stop breathing for a sec or two when the first one screams at you from behind a door. Then the crazy chase starts, and you are underpowered, weak, easily exhausted, and a pack of volatiles on your heels. Couldn’t kill a pack of weak ass biters let alone the elite hunters of infected.
That was the most adrenaline fueled event I had in a game. Turning corner on a street in pure dark with just a flashlight with Volatiles screeching on your neck and popping out of everywhere was so damn scary I actively avoided nights for pretty long in the game.
The developers sure knew how to make nights scary.
