I need help figuring out who this is.

I remember being a kid and seeing this guy’s name on practically every single thriller YA book in the library. I lowkey remember thinking that if a book was written by this author, it had to be good, just because I saw his name EVERYWHERE.

Recently though it turned out that this guy wasn’t even writing that many books, but was somehow just rich and famous enough that he just started putting his name on literally everything. I thought at one point he was one of the most published authors of all time, but it turned out he was kind of just a scammer.

Does this ring any bells for anyone? I am so stumped and cannot google aimlessly to find out who this dude is
