Surely it would place a massive asterisk on all the trophies won during his time at Man City? In future discussions on the greatest manager would this be a talking point which stains our perception on him? Or will he still be lauded as the greatest by some despite the wider context?

He’s not the one that broke the rules but I’m sure he’s connected enough within the club to know at least some of what they’ve done. Plus, with Mancini being paid via all sorts of channels, it’s hard not to believe Guardiola has also benefited from their rule breaking as well. I don’t think anything will come back to him as even if he’s found to have been paid from various sources it’ll probably go to his agent, but he definitely knows they’ve cheated.

His legacy would be done for if they’re guilty as every single trophy won would be deemed won through cheating. He’d surely need to resign from a club that, according to him at least, told him they’re completely innocent and it’s merely his great leadership that caused all of their success. Any morals left in him would surely cause him to not want to be taken down with them.
