Wanted to ask this on the nfl sub, but I think they have rules against polls like this one.
Anyways… do y’all think the league would benefit from just giving every team a week off during the middle of the season (week 8 or 9).
I think there could be some upside to it, as I feel some teams might be at a disadvantage by getting their week off really early (e.g Cleveland getting a bye during week 4) and then not having a chance to rest during the November-December grind.
why not split it? half week 8, half week 9? AFC one week, NFC the other, smaller slate of games where over half could be nationally televised seems like a big win for networks too
The players? Yeah I think so. The financial stakeholders of the organization? Nah probably not

I’d rather keep the season 18 weeks, drop back down to 16 games, and give everyone two bye weeks. Evens up the home/away spread, gives players an extra week of practice/rest/fan engagement opportunities, and allows the schedule makers to get a bit more creative with MNF/TNF/oversees games.
They would lose money so no
