To give a little longer response, it is disheartening that the only response to that kind of genocide is a audible sigh. Maybe that was fine, but you have that murderer on national TV. Rake him through the coals.
Edit - Thinking more about this - if you had Goebbels on your show during WW2, what would you ask him?
Tapper had been fairly pro-Israel until now, from what I’ve seen, so I think he was only just starting to have a wake up.
It’s interesting to see the shift, and Israeli spokespeople are so incredibly bad at their jobs it’s going to keep happening.
They’re bad at their jobs because they lack even a shred of empathy. They are indoctrinated into dehumanizing any perceived enemy of Isreal.
After they’ve been able to silence critics with the word “antisemetism” since like WWII, they haven’t really had to put much effort into brushing shit like this off. Then the Trump presidency quickly gave people a large dose of similar bad faith arguments and justifications to the point where an immunity is building up.
A tipping point was reached between this and the last time the Israel Palestine conflict flared up. The last time, I saw the bad faith in the antisemitic “argument” but it was still popular enough that it felt very risky saying anything about it. It doesn’t feel that way anymore, though I do wonder how far Israel will go to try to shut up critics and how far they’ve already gone to maintain the political support they have in the west. They are already killing journalists, what else?
Tapper is likely waking up because of the impact so close to home (the producer).
That’s precisely why. That’s what it takes for some folks, sadly.
Honestly have to agree. You’ve got him on TV, and after that remark, you should drag that line of thinking all the way out. Make them justify it, don’t just accept “oh they should’ve known better”.
