Tesla's big vehicle price fluctuations and repair wait times are putting rental car companies at a loss both in the figurative and literal sense. Tesla has cut prices by 30% this year and those rental companies which bought at the peak are suffering.
Awww, did someone pay too much for vehicles when the market was absolutely insane and get bit? So sad.
I struggle to see how the price cuts would affect the current fleet tho. Presumably they budgeted the acquisition at this price and decided it would be profitable, not sure how a price change of new cars would affect that.
They likely factored in the old higher resale value of the cars when forecasting and determining profitability.
In the US most rental fleets replace their vehicles roughly every 2-4 years.
