“We were told by responding officers that he made a comment, ‘Free Palestine,’” Hawkins said at a news conference.

terrorism: the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.

That’s a terrorist. This is what terrorism looks like.

And he does nothing to advance the Palestinian cause. He hurts it. He adds to the disgusting idea that gets pushed that all Palestinians are terrorists.

Of course the result is people are too afraid to go to their Synagogue on the first night of their high holidays.

That’s what terrorists want. To put people in fear.

Uh… Chanukkah is the least important holiday on the calendar. A shitty thing for this guy to do, but the high holy days were months ago.

The guy obviously wanted to scare the people inside or around. He’s a real idiot because he put people needlessly at risk. He should be prosecuted for the unsafe discharge of a firearm and whatever other technical violations there are.

Until we hear more, I’m hesitant to agree that he’s a terrorist. Being an absolute moron who did something incredibly dangerous to scare people but didn’t actually hurt anyone isn’t equivalent to terrorism, in my mind, unless he was part of something bigger.

The guy is 28. This seems like a great case for rehabilitation.

I dunno, even if someone was outside my university and discharges two shotgun shells into the air and shouts “Fuck McDonalds” as he’s being arrested, that’s probably still going to scare the shit out of me and make me likely to go to a different, safer school. Most people don’t want to even entertain the possibility of getting drilled by a lunatic.

The optics of him shouting “free Palestine” while shooting a shotgun outside of a Jewish place of worship seems pretty obvious what his intentions are. He’s definitely not going there to celebrate the holidays.

He had a Kel-Tec KS7 12 gauge pump shotgun outside Temple Israel around 2 p.m. Fired twice, fleeing the area, was followed and confronted by a motorist. “The suspect at that point made some statement to this person who was in the vehicle to the effect of he feels that he’s being victimized,” The article said the FBI is investigating it as a hate crime. He’s a 28 yr old iraqi, now american citizen. People have already made conclusions. After dropping the weapon is when he said Free Palestine to the police.
