My vote for Bernie was counted, so yes even for a 3rd party candidate. It would be nice to work towards a proportional representative vote, some states have implement this, but I’d like to see it on the federal scale.
You’re not limited to voting for two candidates, however I would like to see a down ballet voting system as that would increase the potential for an alternative to the two main parties getting elected. Fortunately, with our democratic process, this is quite possible! It just takes organization and an effort towards change!

Well more specifically it’s a democratic republic, which would answer this question, however the future will likely bring change as votes are cast!
