Couple of people mentioned it on Reddit. I can’t post there but I wondered if anyone uses this? I’ve not looked at it in about 15 years and was surprised to discover it’s still around.

Are there any stand out apps that make it worth looking at? I vaguely remember BeOS which is based on was a media-heavy OS? Maybe.

Thoughts, ideas, feelings?

Yeah, I use it! It’s actively updated. Posix complient apps are being ported often and new native apps are being made too.

It’s a smaller following but more people are checking it out too.

Check it out. It’s as easy as downloading an image and booting from USB!

Currently it really isn’t up for daily driving for anyone outside developers perhaps. It is getting better. But getting ahold of even a reasonably recent Firefox compile for it is tricky for the average user last I saw. It’s very nostalgic and very snappy on older hardware for sure. I putter around on it sometimes. But I always end up back in Linux. Though I’m still glad Haiku and React exist and wish them more success.

I’m watching the project eagerly, but no. I did use BeOS for a time though, to age myself.
