When you snitch on someone, there’s not that element of betrayal, because you might not have ever been part of the crime, just stumbled across it.

You and your brother are stealing cookies. If your brother fesses up to save himself, he’s a rat, if your sister catches you and tells, she’s a snitch.
Will that make him a rat or a snitch?
