Conservatives have been putting effort into redefining free speech not just as a Constitutionally protected right against government curtailing your speech or punishing you for your speech but also as some more amorphous “right” to speak on any privately owned platform, to say anything they want without consequence (including threats of violence, libel, fraud, defamation, etc.), to never be moderated no matter how many n-words or antisemitic or transphobic slurs they spew or how much disinformation they spread, etc. They try to pretend that a private entity moderating an online platform is violating “the principles of free speech,” trying to associate the freedom of others not to listen to their speech with the negative connotation of authoritarian government censorship. Musk is a supposed free speech absolutist who has in fact censored speech on behalf of the Turkish government more compliantly than the Twitter execs he claimed he’d be better than.

And what does free speech has to do with banning disney+. Disney did not want to have adds on X, X is owned by Elon, Elon does not want Disney on his companies. Why are we calling “free speech”?
