The last major prisoner exchange was in August, but Ukrainian families are getting calls from POWs held by Russia asking them to protest against the Ukrainian government.

Why do I doubt those POWs are being treated in accordance with the Geneva Conventions?
Maybe because the Russians are regularly murdering surrendered POWs as just one of their many barbaric war crimes.
This reminds me of what North Korea did to Japan after they kidnapped Japanese civilians on the Japanese soils. When PM Junichiro Koizumi’s agents visited NK for negotiation, these poor hostages told their parents to act as NK wanted without saying it’s a NK request.
