The real monsters in Pokémon are the trainers, forcing pokemon to live in claustrophobic little carrying canisters, and forcing them to fight each other for the trainers entertainment.
We have pokemon trainers in the real world too. We normally throw them in prison for fighting dogs and roosters against each other.
I think there are though. At least in the anime I’m pretty sure there were a few random “normal” animals in the early seasons. I’m sure I’ll be corrected if I’m wrong but I feel like I remember it and thinking it was weird.
That’s a pocket monster, baby.
I love how they’re canonically called monsters, even though there are no other types of animals in the Pokémon world.

I’ve always wondered about the health of the Pokémon universe’s ecosystem as it has such poor biodiversity (just over a thousand pokeymans? big yike)
There actually are animals in the Pokémon world: https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Animals_in_the_Pokémon_world
